This cultural highlight tour starts from your hotel in Barcelona, with an official English-speaking guide on board who will take you through the day! We start our route at the nearby city of Sitges, a formerly picturesque fisher village nowadays converted into an exclusive resort. Sitges is the prettiest and most popular resort in Barcelona’s immediate environs. Apart from an excellent beach, it offers a beautiful Old Quarter with some interesting Modernist touches, including the Museu Can Ferrat, which boasts a lot of works of the Modernist artist Santiago Rusiñol, who spent much time here. The museum displays also some works by El Greco.
Tarragona is the other stop on the tour, the capital of the province with the same name South of Barcelona. Tarragona is a former Roman colony, and as such, it has seen the rise and fall of several empires. Main sights include the Roman amphitheatre, the Roman aqueduct, the Gothic Quarter with its cathedral, and the Modernist Market. Tarragona has been declared a “World Heritage Site” by the UNESCO – a “must” excursion for those interested in the Roman past of Catalonia.
